Title: Non-Japanese media you enjoy
Post by: degradingwindow on November 04, 2023, 02:18:00 PM
Considering this is a Touhou forum I assume 99% of the people here are probably very into anime and Japanese media and not much else (I'm also the same way). So I want to know if you enjoy any western media.

I enjoy Fallout 4 and Doom, I don't play a lot of big western AAA games because theyre getting more and more expensive and I can't even download them with such big file sizes.

I've been playing sandbox games more often than usual. So, usually my standard of Minecraft and Terraria. Although, I've been playing Terraria a lot more recently and I have been enjoying it. I would include general Nintendo games as another recent pastime but I don't know if that would quite count, seeing as most of their games come from Japan exclusively. I've wanted to try out some Valve games recently but I just haven't had the time to go through with it.

Also, I've never really enjoyed big AAA games, they just seem too big and grandiose to really be called a "game" for me. I much prefer smaller games or older titles that I feel like I would have fun with.

I don't actually like much Japanese stuff except for Pokemon and a bit of Fire Emblem. My main interest is in retro FPS games (Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom II) and a large number of western cRPGs (ranging from Elder Scrolls to Spiderweb Software games). I also love The X-Files and The Office.

I'm quite a fan of classic Doom, some Elder Scrolls games, and assorted old PC stuff in general.

I'd say that if it was produced in Japan then it's from Japan.

Real Time Resourcer-Tactical-Strategical games are games that I want to get into but don't have the dedication, I was big on Dwarf Fortress, until my fortress was destroyed by a pack of bears and skeleton horses and my own necromancer. Those alongside FPS games are a market that I don't see many Japanese games cover.

I liked seeing Big Bang Theory but it was more a case of Stockholm syndrome because it was the only thing they put on TV for a few months and I was like "sure, I'll watch this".

I was never part of that Elder Scrolls generation, in the era that it was really popular I was more entranced with my Xbox 360 to care. But I would love to get into it.

I love Dwarf Fortress but I can't really play it at all effectively. I can't get it to save my progress at all seeing as my PC probably isn't as technologically capable to run and even save the progress such an advanced game. I also used to be really into FPS games but I kind of got bored with the genre. (It also doesn't help that a lot of FPS communities are overrun with toxicity too...  :meiling:)

About Dwarf Fortress,I certainly should mention this on MoTK V2 https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=11515.0,which was quite entertaing and also somehow informative, together with of course he most recent (except the more personal and alternative mods ) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2907360996.

I just don't turn off my laptop...ever. I think it might have caused my laptop's battery to die and only work when plugged in.  :cirnotan:

And Dwarf Fortress isn't that much of an advanced game in my opinion so long as you dont put any extra mods or sprites.

I am  :notes: Glad...save for your Laptop Battery having alas met its End .  If of better help and interest, there is also, as far as my limited knowledge encompasses , earlier and not-Steam "Touhou" Fortress modded and expanded versions: (Suika Fortress i :notes:n the MoTK V2 's Thread,  1st page )
